For the past 2 years, I have been using the same workflow for my all of my weddings… 2 weeks for online proofs, 3 weeks for the initial album design. This was partially due to the fact that I had a part-time retail job on the side, which I no longer have. (Insert round of applause here.) The other factor in determining those numbers was that 2-3 weeks seems to be the “industry norm” for delivering proofs. I’ve even seen some photographers who take upwards of 4-8 weeks. Everyone has a system that works best for their business, and for the 2011 weddings season I’ve decided to change mine around a bit.
Towards the end of 2010, I noticed that my workflow was starting to change. I was editing faster, getting previews up on Facebook faster, and ending up with a lot of spare time in between my workflow steps. As I mentioned, alot of this had to do with the fact that I now have my own full time office hours. This year, I fully intend on making the most of that time!
So I thought… how amazing would it be to have one wedding fully edited and posted online for the bride before she comes back from her honeymoon? Or even better… how fabulous would it be to have everything completed before heading out to photograph the next wedding?
Perfect, right?! 🙂
