While I was planning my honeymoon I jokingly told people that once I got to Maui I might never come back. And let me say… if it weren’t for my sweet daughter waiting for me at home (or the crazy high cost of living in Maui) I would have actually stayed! Waking up every morning to the sound of the ocean was amazing. And I finally got to see true blue ocean water! (Cross that one off my bucket list!) The landscape is incredible. We could see the mountains from our balcony and almost every day there was a rainbow.
It’s been 2 months since we got on that plane to head back home… but Maui is a place that finds it’s way into your heart and never leaves. This trip changed my life.
(Insert dramatic sigh and long stare into the distance.)
So finally… I’m sharing the photos! We stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Resort in Lahaina. (I highly, highly recommend them!!) We spent our days walking the beach, snorkeling, touring the road to Hana and lounging in the sun. I chose not to bring my DSLR so these images are from my iPhone and from my Olympus Tough TG-5 camera.
By far the best investment we made on this trip was scheduling a honeymoon portrait session with Karma Hill Photography. We chose Ironwoods Beach as our location because of the giant cliffs, white sands and bright blue water. Brides, I absolutely recommend doing something like this on your honeymoon! It was wonderful to dress up in our wedding attire and spend some time holding hands, laughing together and watching the sunset in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I can’t wait to print these images and hang them all over our home!

I can’t forget to give a shoutout to our fantastic travel agent, Jodi! She even has a great honeymoon registry available that we used in lieu of traditional wedding gifts. If you’re looking for someone to make planning your honeymoon an absolute breeze, contact Starfish Travel. 🙂
All in all, this honeymoon was everything I ever could have asked for and more. (I sat in the airport looking at homes on Zillow because we didn’t want to leave… anyone have $5mil I can borrow to buy a house in Maui? LOL!!) It’s not just the incredible scenic views… it’s the people, the culture. The way they live off the land and respect nature. Their kindness. We’ve decided that we will be visiting Hawaii once every 5 years and we are going to renew our vows on the cliffs at Ironwoods Beach for our 10 year anniversary.
Until then, Maui will continue to live in my heart and inspire me in everything I do. 🙂
