What is this year’s top nursery trend?
In the ever-changing world of nursery design and décor, newborn photographers are fortunate to have an inside peek at the latest trends through conversations with their clients. My portrait sets are typically designed to match the theme of the nursery and over the years I have witnessed an interesting evolution of color and theme trends.
For decades, we stuck to the traditional script with pink for girls and blue for boys – safe but predictable. Nurseries today have come a long way, evolving into an incredible form of creativity and self-expression for parents.
In the early 2000s, we saw the rise of neutral and pastel tones. Pink and gold were popular for girls, and there was a time when almost every family requested baby blue and neutrals for their little boy. Themes also shifted from classic baby animals and cartoon characters to more boho-chic and minimalist designs.
As we move through 2023, nursery design trends are undergoing yet another transformation, making way for a color that embodies serenity, growth, and sustainability: green.
Green is the new blue in 2023.
Nurseries are transforming into mini rainforests and woodland escapes with potted plants, hunter-green accent walls, and jungle-themed decor. Floral murals above the crib have become increasingly popular as well, blending blush and sage with white and light wood accents. There are so many different shades of green to choose from, and it’s the perfect gender-neutral color for the rising number of families that are choosing to keep the gender a surprise until birth.
Parents are also going green for their little ones, opting for eco-friendly choices! The color green symbolizes peace and tranquility, as well as sustainability, renewal, and a commitment to a greener future.
Be social!
