On this day a decade ago I stood in the office (aka – the sunroom) of my 2 bedroom apartment holding a binder full of documents that made me “official.” Today I am sitting in my beautiful 1,300 square foot studio space proudly celebrating 10 years of business. 10 years!! And what an incredible ride it has been.
Out of these 10 amazing years 9 of them have been spent working with newborns. Because I’m very much a numbers girl, curiosity got the best of me the other day and I began to wonder exactly how many newborns I’ve photographed professionally.
And so… I counted.
I went back through my digital archives and counted every single newborn session that I have on file. (Because I’m a hoarder and I try to keep my images as long as technology allows.) The number I came back with was over 200!
So if you’re curious as to what 200+ newborns look like when you put them all together, keep scrolling! These sweet babies are shown in order by year, from 2010 to my most recent session just days ago. (A few sessions are missing from here because I’ve since learned that disks are not reliable long-term backup sources.) It was definitely a humbling experience going back through those older images. I am sharing this with you as visual proof that professional posed newborn photography doesn’t happen overnight. Put that together with learning proper lighting techniques and finding the right editing style… it’s taken years of education, safety training and practice to get to where I am today.
I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of my amazing clients. Especially to the couples that have invited me to share in their wedding celebrations and to all of the wonderful parents that have trusted me with their sweet babies in the most delicate time of their life. I would not be where I am today without your trust and your support. It has been an honor and a joy to work with you.
