Bailey & Bryce picked the most perfect venue for their wedding day – Ripley’s Aquarium, right here in Myrtle Beach!
Ripley’s Aquarium is one of the top local attractions, boasting an impressive collection of over 11,000 marine animals and representing more than 350 species.
When the couple arrived with their closest family and friends, you could feel the excitement in the air.
After a memorable experience swimming with rays in the Bahamas, it was especially fitting that they said their vows in front of the ray tank. The cownose rays are a favorite for Bailey, who said “They remind me of angels.”
Having an early morning wedding meant we had the opportunity to explore the venue before it opened to the public. So naturally, the first place we stopped for a portrait was in the infamous tunnel at Dangerous Reef! The sharks swam overhead like they knew this was their moment to shine. The tank in this 340-foot walkway is home to sand tiger sharks, sandbar sharks, and nurse sharks. We even got to see the resident green sea turtle, Gabby!
Fun Fact:
Dangerous Reef contains 750,000 gallons of saltwater!
It also circulates 11,664,000 gallons of water every 24 hours.
We did all of the formal family portraits at Rainbow Rock while thousands of fish danced in the background. Then I took the newlyweds around the aquarium for some photos in their favorite spots!
How cute are the little bonnethead sharks? They seemed to love all of the attention they were getting and made sure to put on a show as we were photographing.
This photo at the Penguin Playhouse is going down as one of my all-time favorite wedding photos. Check out this little guy popping his head above water like he’s posing for the photo!
Fun Fact:
The Aquarium has 1.4 million gallons of water in its exhibits.
All of that water travels throughout the building in over 40 miles of pipe.
After exploring the newlywed’s favorite spots in the aquarium we took the bridal party outside for a few fun portraits before heading back inside. The ferris wheel at Broadway At The Beach made for the perfect backdrop!
Special thanks to The Trestle for providing the most delicious breakfast buffet! The wedding cake & desserts were provided by Nothing But Bundt, Heather Dilworth officiated the ceremony, and Sherrill Givens played the dual role of wedding planner and Mother of the Bride!
I honestly can’t say enough about the incredible team at Ripley’s Aquarium. Their staff were some of the most kind, accommodating people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. If you’re looking for a truly unique venue for your Myrtle Beach wedding, I highly recommend you check out Ripley’s!
Surrounded by the beauty of marine life, your wedding day will be an unforgettable experience for both you and your guests. So, take the plunge (get it?!) and embark on a truly magical journey as you start your new chapter together at Ripley’s Aquarium.
