John and Whitney’s first meeting could have been pulled from an episode of How I Met Your Mother…
“We met at Fat Tuesday’s at Broadway at the Beach on Friday the 13th in April 2012 when John’s friend howled in my ear. I turned around to fuss at the guy and he just looked at me, pushed John forward, said “Have you met John?” and walked away…leaving me and John standing face to face for the first time.”
If you understood the reference, I know you just read that in Barney’s voice! “Haaaaaaave ya met John?” 😉
I had such an awesome time photographing Whitney & John at Huntington Beach State Park! We started out around Atalaya castle (Isn’t Whitney’s blue dress gorgeous?!) and then finished up with an epic styled portrait set on the beach as the sun was going down.
Here is their proposal story, in Whitney’s words:
“John proposed to me where he kissed me the first time! I was not expecting it at all I thought we were just going to dinner… I was also shocked when my best friend popped out from the bushes with a camera in her hand. He then took me to our friend’s business, The Grumpy Monk, where our friends were waiting with sparklers. The staff was watching from the side door, and the billboard said ‘John <3 Whitney’.”
For the grande finale of our session, Whitney came to me with a gorgeous candlelight photo from Pinterest that she loved. So we took that image as inspiration and put our own spin on it! These are the resulting images from our epic candlelight styled sunset portrait series. 🙂
“There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.”
