Zac & Shane’s Garden Themed Wedding at Atalaya Castle

Jun 23, 2018

Soulmates. Best friends. Meant to be. On June 16th two people very much in love promised forever together in the courtyard of Atalaya Castle at Huntington Beach State Park.

Huntington is a very special place to Shane and Zac. “We go there regularly to see the castle and the alligators in the marsh. One of our favorite activities is to walk down ‘alligator alley’ and check out the birds and alligators. We do this at least twice a month. We also love being outdoors and we felt this was the perfect place for an outdoor wedding.”

The couple chose a floral bohemian garden theme for their ceremony & reception. All colors were present at the wedding, including a gorgeous handmade ribbon backdrop for the ceremony. The grooms wore navy suits with floral ties, the groomsmen donned gray suits and the groomswomen will wore petal color dresses.

Zac & Shane chose to do a first look, which is one of my very favorite modern wedding traditions. They added their own twist by wearing blindfolds, which they took off when they were ready to see each other. Standing by and capturing these moments made my heart absolutely swell with joy. The love these two have is so beautiful!

After the first look we had time for some fun portraits before the ceremony! We were also able to do all of the wedding party and family formal portraits, leaving the couple time to mingle with their guests during cocktail hour. I hope you enjoy looking through some more of my favorite images that tell the story of Zac & Shane’s perfect summer wedding day.

“Our favorite part of the planning process was connecting with all of our vendors. As a same-sex couple, it can be extremely difficult to find vendors that are willing to share our love. Fortunately we had zero issue and all of our vendors have been amazing. We could not ask for a better group of people to help us celebrate our big day.”

Special thanks to their all-star team of wedding professionals that came together to help make this day SO amazing!
